only in SC...

The perks of my job are too many to mention, and sometimes I'm amazed by the fact that I moved back to SC, turned my back on my big city life in Boston and yet, I'm still happy with where I'm at in my life (Note: this changes daily and will change for awhile.) On the other hand the following situation makes me realize that no matter how much I try to update the women in my hometown with what's HOT, what's NOT and everything in between...I come to the realization that I am fighting a loosing battle.

Yesterday in the store:

Shopper: I was wondering if you could help me out. I just bought these great Tory Burch boots, you know, the ones that come to my knees and are flat. I'm just not sure what to wear them with. I've got some skinny jeans I can wear them with, but then I'm stuck as to what top will match.
Me: (with confused look on my face) Well, with this boot, you're options are wide open. They will look great paired back with denim, but just as great back with tights and a great dress, really any dress, skirt, pretty much anything... (By this point, I was confusing myself as much as she was confusing me.)
Shopper: Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm not completely sold on the dress thing (wtf? moment), what about a top with the jeans?
Me: Here are a couple of great options...(I begin to pull a few basic tees, a few knit and cashmere cardigans and vests, belts, a super fitted plaid button down, plum colored, ruffly, silky, ADORABLE top)...Any of these will look great with jeans, and the riding boots will be an added plus with any of these looks. My favorite out of these would be the plaid button down or the grandpa cardigan, basic tee and belt combo...Any of these striking your fancy?
Shopper: (As she slowly edges towards the door) Yeah, I'm just not really looking for the Ralph Lauren-esque look with the plaids and cardigans...I guess I'm looking for something different..maybe one of those babydoll type tops with the band around the waist and fuller around the hips.
Me: (on the verge of puking) ok, well thanks for stopping by, and let me know if you ever need anything!! (Then proceeded to flash a big, huge, GINORMOUS smile)

I'd love to meet the sales girl who sold her THE boots...
