Today I attended a Baby Shower Luncheon for our long, long, long time best friend. We go as far back as middle school dances, spin the bottle at our first boy/girl parties, sneaking out during sleepovers, homecoming(s), keg parties, first loves and first mixtapes. The hosts did a phenomenal job with the seating chart and sat the whole gang together. We talked about the old times, the good times, upcoming wedding anniversaries, buns in the oven and due dates, big girl jobs, and not so BIG girl jobs, that crazy thing so-and-so did last weekend and that crazy thing so-and-so did 8 years ago that STILL cracks us up after all these years, who's living where and doing what, who we miss the most and who we never missed at all, what we're doing and where we're going, and most of all, above everything else..how much we cherish each other and the friendship we share. (I know I threw a couple of, "Gah, ya'll..we're so lucky to have each other." out there.) Even though I might be the furthest away from husbands and babies, households and family cars, I feel even more connected to these girls and I'm so grateful they're giving me the opportunity to be a part of their BIG accomplishments. And I won't lie, the number of people who asked about Miss Wilma would blow your mind. She's a huge accomplishment in my book, even if she is a dog my child.
P.S. Forgot my camera so I have no proof of today's activities, but trust me..it happened.
